Located just 100 yards from all the local amenities in Mevagissey's world famous harbour, and with its own private parking place, Lower Deck is the perfect secret get away for couples or young families. The private covered terrace is the ideal spot to watch the fisherman going about their business, and soak up the full atmosphere of a historic fishing village whilst enjoying the fresh sea air.
Newly renovated to a high level, Lower Deck is generously sized and accommodates up to four guests. With private entrance and fully self-contained it forms the bottom floor of the Moorings. It boasts a fully equipped kitchen, an open plan living space with romantic wood burning/multifuel stove, a conservatory, private garden (in addition to the all-weather terrace) 1 double and 1 twin bedroom and luxurious bathroom. The entrance is through the private walled garden dominated by its apple tree.
The living area consists of a multifuel stove, 2 seater sofa, 2 funky red chairs, flat screen TV/DVD player, radio/CD/iPod dock, nest of tables, a selection of books, CDs and DVDs and a window seat from which to sit and soak up the fabulous views across Mevagissey harbour below. The main door leads out onto a covered terrace with bench and seating which is the ideal outdoor spot to enjoy the "gull's eye" views of the fishing boats.
The newly fitted, modern and fully integrated kitchen is well equipped for your stay offering a 4 ring halogen hob, single oven, fridge, freezer compartment, microwave and combined washer/dryer. There is a solid wood dining table that can seat 4. Adjoining the kitchen and dining area is a delightful conservatory which looks out onto the garden and has a bistro table set (perfect for afternoon tea), along with a large round wicker chair with sea views. French doors lead from the conservatory out to the garden area where you will find an additional 4 seater bistro table set for "al-fresco" dining. This can be moved to the undercover terrace area for those occasional rainy days.
The kingsize master bedroom has a black metal bedstead, silk cushions and window seat overlooking the garden. The twin room has a nautical flavour with solid wooden 3ft single beds and window seat. The luxurious modern bathroom offers a bath with a waterfall tap, and shower overhead with raindrop head for a truly indulgent soak. It is finished with natural travertine stone tiles.
Mevagissey is evocatively picturesque and rich in history. Just down the hill from the Moorings the narrow streets are aligned with an eclectic collection of boutiques, traditional pubs, local deli, restaurants and amenities. Small beaches emerge at low tide in the harbour itself and beautiful coastal walks are on your doorstep along the southwest coastal path which runs through Mevagissey. The lost Gardens of Heligan are a 5 minute drive away.
A few miles up the coast is the larger harbour town - Fowey, one of Cornwall's most popular yachting destination, home town of the celebrated author Daphne du Maurier with a delightful array of shops, pubs and cafes. In summer months daily passenger ferries travel between the two harbour towns.
Inland the closest town is St. Austell with the world famous Eden Project nearby. St Austell offers a newly developed retail centre, a number of out of town larger retail outlets plus Tesco and Asda supermarkets that can deliver locally.
