Family-Friendly Attractions in Cornwall

The National Maritime Museum

Ever wondered how submarines move? At the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth, children can learn where energy comes from, and witness some explosive experiments. At the museum’s ‘Science of the Sea‘ exhibition for half term, their expert guide is sure to entertain and inspire wonder about science and the marine environment.

Other activities at the museum include exploring the 15 galleries over five floors, jumping aboard boats, climbing the 100-foot lookout tower and going underwater in the Tidal Zone.

Trebah Garden

Whilst we are well and truly in wintertime, spring’s colour is definitely creeping in. And there’s nowhere more colourful in a Cornish February than Trebah Garden. Trebah’s 500 pink and white Camellias are coming into their main flowering period now, and it’s a beautiful sight. Magnolia is also blooming bright and bold.

Children will love exploring the garden as much as you, and every Wednesday throughout February, Trebah Kitchen are serving up their ‘Winter Warmers’ – perfect for warming up after fun in the garden. Did you know that at the bottom of the gardens, there’s an idyllic beach, called Polgwidden Cove?

Tintagel Castle

For centuries, the dramatic castle of Tintagel and the surrounding coastline has fired the imaginations of writers, artists and even the brother of a king. From Roman artefacts to the Legend of king Arthur, the island’s history is rich and varied. Journey across the impressive new footbridge, spot wildlife from the cliff top, and explore Merlin’s Cave and the rock pools on the beach below…
