We caught up with Charlotte, the owner of Hidden Gem, for a glimpse into her perfect stay in this idyllic home, as well as what inspires her about the property…
How did you choose Hidden Gem and why?
“We had been looking for a long time before we saw Hidden Gem. We fell in love as soon as we saw it. Although unloved, it was still beautiful, while close to the beach and town, with a good sized garden. From the lovely private courtyard setting, taking us to the front door, we were smitten. The harbour views from the garden terrace top it off.”
What activities would you recommend to guests when they stay, either in the house or in the local area?
“The beach, the beach, the beach! Topped off in the late afternoon with a chilled glass of champagne on the terrace overlooking the harbour, relaxing after a day paddle boarding on Porthminster Beach in the sun.”
What is your favourite part of Hidden Gem?
“First, location, location, location – a quiet little nook in the centre of town, a stone’s throw from everything. Secondly, there is the large garden, which is absolutely unheard of, with a fisherman’s cottage in St Ives town, so close to the beach.”
What is the inspiration behind the interiors?
“We took our inspiration from the stunning beaches with their crystal waters. It’s all about natural luxury: light beach coastal relaxation and back to nature, with natural stone and solid oak floors, natural slate worktops and hand crafted solid wood kitchen.”
How would you spend your perfect stay at Hidden Gem and in St Ives?
“Coffee on the terrace overlooking the harbour, followed by Porthminster Beach with the dogs. Back to wash the dog in the Cast-Iron Bath Company roll-top bath in the garden, followed by people watching from the window seat, in a bar on the front.”
