After a hugely successful first year welcoming guests to the first four lodges, we are pleased to add Windward, Fair Isle, Breakwater and Portland to the portfolio this summer and we are now taking bookings for 2018 and 2019 – be the first to stay!
Our co-managing director, Julianne, road tested our latest luxury self catering beach houses earlier this summer and shares with us her experience…
“It’s key practice for our team to road test some of our beautiful new Gems prior to the first guests arriving to ensure that everything is all in perfect order ahead of their stay – I know, lucky us! Over the May bank holiday weekend I had the pleasure of staying at Windward with my family. Windward forms one of the 8 luxury cedar clad beach houses nestled amongst the sand dunes at Sandy Acres, Hayle (4 miles outside St Ives). Wow, it really did impress!
It’s so refreshing to see a new build home where investment in quality emulates throughout; from the inbuilt bespoke carpentry of the bedroom furniture right through to the top end bathroom finishes. My husband is a builder and is renowned for his critical eye for detail and he and the rest of the party spoke very highly about the quality of craftsmanship throughout.
Although at first glance the eight beach houses look identical, there are three differing designs each offering three bedrooms, three bathrooms (one of which is on the ground floor – very handy with children) and generous open plan social spaces. From the living areas, full-height glass bi-fold doors slide back to a decked front terrace with a 7 seater top of the range, Villeroy and Boch hot tub as well as a large dining table with six chairs to seat the whole family.
Being a busy mum and business owner, enjoying a good night’s sleep is high on the priority list and Windward didn’t let me down. The 6ft super king bed with sumptuous bedding was one of the comfiest I’ve slept in and the blackout curtains were much appreciated.
The large decking area was perfect for our evening barbecues whilst we watched the sun dip over the sand dunes.
The setting is serene and very secure for children to play, my daughter was in heaven counting rabbits, looking for caterpillars and she even saw a fox!
The location is just fabulous, within 15 minutes we had walked from our holiday door and had set up camp on the beach below. Sandy Acres beach forms part of the three miles of golden sands at Hayle, from which the views are incredible offering the very best seascapes across to Carbis Bay, St Ives and Godrevy lighthouse.
Windward and the other seven Sandy Acres beach houses are perfect for couples and families all year-round. They are triple glazed, appointed with stylish log burners and the hot tub is an indulgent treat come rain or shine. They are all family friendly, offering travel cots and high chairs for really little ones and some are dog friendly too.
We have a week of annual leave to take before my daughter starts school in September and instead of booking an European holiday to the sun, we’re tempted to opt for the convenience of a staycation and check back into the guaranteed luxury of Sandy Acres in Cornwall.”
