East Cornwall Luxury Holiday Cottages

A historic pilchard fishing and smugglers’ cove, Portwrinkle is hunkered on the southwest edge of the Rame Peninsula. These days its pilchard cellars have been transformed into characterful cottages that huddle around Finnygook cove – named after ‘Finny’ the smuggler, whose ghost is said to haunt the cliffs after he betrayed his friends to save himself from the authorities. This pretty coastal village is an idyllic base from which to experience this less–trammelled corner of Cornwall: Strike out along the South West Coast Path to Rame Head, explore the historical landscapes of Mount Edgcumbe Country Park and the Anthony Estate, or cast away on a Famous Five adventure from a secluded cove. For day in the city, the maritime appeal of Plymouth is well worth a visit whether you prefer to hit the shops, explore the Barbican or visit the Aquarium, it really is a great day out. The town of Looe itself is steeped in maritime history and is proud of its fishing heritage. Watch the daily catch being hauled straight onto the quay and watch the boats chug in and out, with a pasty in hand of course!Hannafore beach is a beautiful beach for those halcyon days. Looe beach is on the edge of the town and at low tide reveals a wide stretch of sand leading round to the pier and mouth of the river. Talland Bay is just 3 miles along the coast, offering further areas to discover and enjoy the beach life in Cornwall.
