A stylish country cottage set in a wonderful coastal location, Lavender Cottage is an idyllic holiday hideaway. Situated in the historic old town, but less than 10 minutes’ walk from Penzance train station (on the main line to London Paddington), it is a perfect base for exploring. From secret coves and picture-postcard villages such as Mousehole, to the more vibrant atmosphere of Penzance, the West Cornwall peninsula oozes hidden character and charm. Located in a quiet mews, the cottage is only a 5 minute walk from Penzance’s harbour and beach, Jubilee Pool lido and Chapel Street with its antiques and art shops, pubs and eateries. Combining features of an original fisherman’s home with modern luxury, Lavender Cottage is perfect for couples and friends.
Set over 3 floors this boutique-style cottage has been beautifully transformed with comfort in mind. The sitting room at the front of the cottage is a welcoming place to relax after a clifftop walk, or cosy up with a glass of wine in front of a film. Walking through to the dining room, you’ll find a lovely rustic wooden dining table with bench seating, ideal for getting together over a supper of local lobster - the neighboring fishing village of Newlyn provides some of the region’s best seafood. The ship-shape galley kitchen is small but perfectly-formed and overlooks the courtyard garden, a sun-trap for lounging with a book or al fresco drinks. From the dining room, stairs lead up to the first floor, where you’ll find the bathroom, and next to it a front-facing bedroom decorated in warm creams and neutral tones, with a king size bed. Climbing the last set of stairs you’ll reach the spacious and luxurious master bedroom set high in the eaves of the cottage, with a super king size bed, hand basin and French windows opening onto a small Juliet balcony offering a stunning sea view across to the iconic St Michael’s Mount.
Lavender Cottage is located in a quiet lane but close to local shops, the oldest pub in Penzance, and only a short walk down the winding streets to the sea. Choose to stroll along the front and enjoy a swim in Jubilee Pool, an Art Deco lido. Penzance has an intriguing mix - from the famous Lenterns butchers and waterside fishmongers, to kitsch gift shops and art galleries, to artisan cafes and tiny olde-worlde pubs. A wealth of eateries means you can relax with morning coffee by the sea, indulge in a traditional cream tea, or enjoy excellent local cooking at one of the many cafes and restaurants. The art-deco outdoor seawater pool is a few minutes’ walk from the cottage, as is the ferry to the Scilly Isles. Catch your own supper on a fishing trip leaving from the harbour or visit the friendly cycle hire shop around the corner and discover the nearby beaches by bike.
Nestled in the old narrow streets, Lavender Cottage is an ideal bolthole for enjoying Cornish life.
