The Old Bakehouse is a spacious two bedroom stone cottage located in the heart of St Ives Downalong area, very close to Porthmeor beach.  Its perfect location ensures you are completely immersed in Cornish life from lazy cafe coffees to evening walks along the harbour with dog in tow.  Keenly priced this is a much sought-after bolthole in all seasons.

The Property

The Old Bakehouse has been sensitively transformed to cleverly combine original features with modern day living.  On entering the property, the entrance hall leads to a lounge area with cosy seating in which to unwind and a bookcase with a wide selection of books to keep you entertained.  The kitchen/dining area is well equipped for holiday indulgence, so why not make the most of the best Cornish produce during your stay.  The luxury of two bedrooms makes this home a perfect choice for young families or couples alike.  The double bedroom with wooden clad feature wall is wonderfully spacious with a comfortable double bed and the finest of linens.

This was our second stay at The Old Bakehouse.  We love St Ives at this time of year and it's so nice to be able to stay in such a lovely cottage with our dog.

Enjoy beach life as your alternative garden, the closest beaches of Porthgwidden, Porthmeor and The Harbour are all less than 5 minutes walk from the cottage and offer some of the most beautiful settings in St Ives.  For those unfamiliar with this unrivalled spot, discover for yourself the narrow lanes, hidden away cafes and stylish galleries.  If dining is on the agenda then leave the cook books at home and make a reservation at the Porthminster Beach Cafe for the very best in beachside dining.  Further afield the dramatic cliffs and rugged coastline of West Cornwall make for a perfect scenic drive with a picnic packed.

We found the communication of Cornish Gems excellent from booking, through to arrival and also then a follow up phone call to make sure all was well. The Old Bakehouse was a very nice property in a great location for the town and harbour. All in all, a great week. Thanks.

The property was very nice and in an excellent location.

Ian Waters

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Old Bakehouse. The property was warm, comfortable and well equipped with plenty of room and a nice homely feel. It was so good to find a property of this standard in the centre of St Ives which welcomes dogs. We would definitely book with Cornish Gems again.

Mrs Kay Hinde

The Old Bakehouse was perfectly located for all facilities of St Ives and in an excellent position for dog walking. Very comfortable.

Janw Poole

Had a lovely time in a beautiful location, thank you Cornish Gems!

Vanessa Frake

We found the property to be a good standard, great location. Kitchen & bathroom modern & great shower. Will aim to book again in 2012. Many thanks.

Craig Livingstone

The Old Bakehouse was perfect for our needs. Really close to the beach to check waves for surfing, close to town but far enough away not to be affected by any late evening noise. The key safe is a fantastic idea and I think all cottages should have one. No having to co-ordinate getting in and out and no chance of losing the key on the beach/in the sea either!

Catherine Alexander

Very well equipped.
