We’d begin the day before the world properly wakes. With the sky brushed in soft pinks and golds, there’s no better way to greet the morning than with a dip in the calm waters of the river.

The South West Coast Path offers breathtaking vantage points, while shorter circular routes invite you to meander without agenda. After a morning outdoors, we’d follow the scent of something delicious drifting from a riverside pub. The Helford and its surrounding villages are home to welcoming spots where muddy boots are encouraged and menus celebrate the best of Cornwall. Think fresh seafood, seasonal produce and a chilled glass of something crisp enjoyed in a sun-dappled garden.

Or perhaps we’d venture into nearby Falmouth for a change of pace. With its vibrant harbour, independent boutiques and tempting bakeries, it’s perfect for an afternoon roam. A coffee by the water, a browse through art galleries, fish and chips on the quay – Falmouth adds a lively contrast to the Helford’s gentle rhythm.
