At full tide, the river shines a brilliant blue beneath the big Cornish sky, while at low tide, wide stretches of sand reveal walking routes and quiet corners to explore. Beyond Waterside, guests are welcome to enjoy the communal gardens that lead down to the riverbank. At low tide, you can walk across to Crantock Beach via the low tide bridge, or take the small water taxi at high tide for a wonderfully memorable way to reach the sand.

If surfing is on the agenda, Waterside is perfectly placed. The world-renowned Fistral Beach is within walking distance and offers some of the best waves in the country, along with surf schools, beach cafés and a lively coastal atmosphere. For a slower pace, Crantock Beach, the River Gannel and nearby Polly Joke offer gentler days of walking, swimming, paddleboarding and wildlife spotting.
