Step Inside

Every old house has a story to tell, and The Helm is no exception. Known locally as Sterling House, this much-loved home has been part of Marazion for generations.

Original fireplaces, exposed stone walls and charming architectural quirks have been lovingly preserved, while elegant contemporary interiors bring the house effortlessly into modern-day living.

Local legend even tells of timber salvaged from a shipwreck in Mount's Bay finding its way into the upper floors. Whether fact or folklore, it is a story that feels perfectly at home in this historic Cornish market town.

At the heart of the home is a spacious kitchen, complete with a generous island that is perfect for gathering over morning coffee or evening drinks.

Hidden just beyond, a quirky cocktail bar is fully equipped for mixing everything from mojitos to margaritas before dinner.

Across the hall, the elegant dining room, with its original fireplace and doors opening onto the garden, is made for long, laughter-filled meals together.

Meanwhile, the cosy sitting room invites you to curl up beside the fire with a book, board game or favourite film.

Spread across three floors, five beautifully appointed ensuite bedrooms comfortably sleep up to ten guests, with many framing views across Mount's Bay towards St Michael's Mount.

The light-filled principal suite crowns the house with panoramic sea views, while a dedicated cinema room offers the perfect setting for cosy evenings after a day exploring Cornwall's coastline.

On Your Doorstep

Outside, The Helm's colourful enclosed garden offers a peaceful retreat after days spent exploring West Cornwall.

Gather around the outdoor dining table for leisurely family meals, unwind with a book in the hammock, toast marshmallows around the firepit as the evening draws in, or simply relax amongst the beautifully planted gardens while little ones and four-legged friends enjoy the lawn.

Step beyond the front door and you'll find yourself in the heart of Marazion, a charming historic market town set on the shores of Mount's Bay.

Pick up fresh coffee and pastries from the local bakery, browse independent galleries and craft shops, or settle in for a long lunch overlooking the sea at the Godolphin Arms.

Just moments away, Marazion Beach stretches for over a mile along the bay, offering golden sand and calm waters perfect for swimming, paddleboarding, sandcastle building and watersports.

No visit is complete without exploring the iconic St Michael's Mount. Wander across the ancient granite causeway at low tide or catch the seasonal ferry to discover the historic castle, subtropical gardens and centuries of fascinating history.

Perfectly positioned for discovering West Cornwall, The Helm is just a short drive from the historic harbour town of Penzance, where you'll find excellent restaurants, independent shops, galleries and the famous Jubilee Pool.

The golden sands of Praa Sands, the picturesque streets of St Ives, the fishing village of Mousehole and the dramatic coastline of Land's End are all within easy reach.

This makes The Helm an exceptional base for family holidays, coastal adventures and unforgettable days exploring Cornwall's far west.
