This gorgeous barn conversion, nestled within the quiet, rural hamlet of Engollan on the north Cornish coast, was originally a cowshed, and known to be one of the farm buildings for Great Engollan Farm. We had a fantastic week at The Linhay. It was extremely well equipped and beautifully furnished. It had a lovely feel and we felt it was our home for the week. The hot tub was great too.
The Linhay boasts a fabulous welcome, with spacious rooms occupying the whole home. The light-filled open plan kitchen, breakfast room, dining room and sitting room all offer a relaxed ambiance, perfectly suiting a tranquil stay for couples and larger groups alike. The well appointed country-styled kitchen is a tempting space to get creative and enjoy some of Cornwall’s finest ingredients for a local feast. At the far end of this wonderful space, the sitting room resides with a picturesque inglenook fireplace and traditional wood burner, surrounded by comfy seating, for your post-beach walk cup of tea. The rustic, exposed beams and elegant pallet combine modern decor with traditional features, for a stay like no other. The bedrooms are simply wonderful and worthy of any boutique hotel - think fine white linen and delicate fabrics, enrobed onto snuggly duvets, all for your luxurious stay in the countryside.
French doors lead from the living area, into the large walled garden, originally known as the old farmyard. From the outside of the main house, admire the huge granite pillars or the walls of quartz and spar stone, as a real nod to the life that Linhay previously occupied. The history of this fabulous home doesn’t end there, as the granary to the left of the house was originally used as a grain store, and the Mowhay has a past of being a hay barn. The enclosed garden itself is a real sun-trap, and there’s dozens of comfortable seating areas, so you can soak up the Cornish sun all day long. Adjacent to the barn, a paved area beholds a large table with seating for all, so that you can enjoy those al-fresco dining experiences with the whole family. Begin your holiday with a soak in the bubbling hot tub, guaranteed to ease any aching muscles and relieve anxious minds. If you’re longing for a serene stay, the quietness of this rural hamlet offers utter bliss, with only birdsong to disturb you. When you’re ready for an adventure, The Linhay provides excellent access to the golden beaches of Mawgan Porth, Porthcothan, Constantine Bay, Boobys Bay, Haryln, Trevone and more. With golf clubs, farm shops, other scenic walks and plentiful tempting eateries all within reach, The Linhay truly is the gateway to a perfect stay on the north coast.
