Wow! Porthilly is a real Grand Designs property and
has just the perfect amount of home from home comforts. It's a real luxury property which is kept to a good standard with quality furnishings and fittings. The property was spotless, glass cleaned and no dust / hair behind the beds and in the corners - the housekeeping team clearly have good attention to detail and we really appreciated this. The hot tub is emptied, cleaned and refilled between stays (this isn't the case with all holiday companies and was one of the reasons we chose
Cornish Gems). We were reassured too to see the mid week check of the hot tub.
Porthilly is a striking modern detached house set over two floors, thoughtfully designed to make the most of light, space and its beautiful coastal setting.
Arrive into the hallway, where a full-height atrium floods the house with natural light and creates an immediate sense of openness and calm.
From here, the home flows into the open plan kitchen and dining areas, before stepping down into the spacious sunken living room, a wonderfully sociable space made for gathering together.
Whether you are enjoying easy breakfasts on the go or lingering over lavish suppers inspired by the abundance of local produce found nearby, this is a home designed for cooking, eating and spending valuable time together.
The living area forms the heart of the house, where games are played, evenings are spent around the fire and summer days drift effortlessly between the indoors and the garden.
The first of four bedrooms is located on the ground floor, with an adjacent walk-in shower room adding comfort and flexibility for guests.
A separate snug and study provides a peaceful space for those needing to check in with work, enjoy a quiet workcation moment or simply retreat with a film, while children can escape the grown-up conversation and settle in with the Nintendo Switch.
The open-tread staircase rises from the hallway to the light and lofty first floor, where three further bedrooms and a contemporary family bathroom continue the sense of relaxed luxury.
The bathroom features a sunken Jacuzzi bath, perfectly placed for sunset soaks and sea views, bringing a touch of indulgence to the end of each day.
The principal en suite bedroom is a true holiday oasis, with a super king-size bed, glorious sea views across the fields and full-height glass doors opening onto a private balcony.
Each bedroom is set against a fresh white backdrop and styled with fun, creative flair, creating restful spaces with personality, comfort and a wonderful sense of coastal escape.
The garden at Porthilly has everything you could wish for from a luxury coastal holiday, with full-height glass doors opening out onto a generous lawn and terrace where indoor-outdoor living comes naturally.
Gather around the large outdoor table for alfresco lunches and long summer suppers, or sink into the outside sofas with a favourite book and make the most of slow afternoons beneath the Cornish sun.
For the ultimate indulgence, the hot tub sits on a raised platform with views across green fields towards the headland and sea, creating a truly special place to unwind as the sun sets.
Beyond the garden, this beautiful corner of North Cornwall offers an extraordinary natural playground in every season, from rolling surf and golden beaches to dramatic coastal scenery and wide open skies.
