An Orange Cornwall Itinerary | The Colours of Cornwall

There’s a warmth to Cornwall that goes beyond the summer sun. It glows in the last light of a coastal sunset, flickers from a log burner after a day outdoors and bubbles in a glass of golden Cornish cider. Orange is the colour of warmth, energy and togetherness – of fireside feasts, autumn harvests, hot tubs and evenings that invite you to stay a little longer.

From the sheltered coves of the Roseland Peninsula, to the wild Atlantic coastline around St Agnes and Porthtowan, and the orchards and cider country surrounding Looe, this three-day itinerary is filled with golden moments.

Day 1: The Fire & Feast Day – Roseland

Begin your orange Cornwall escape in St Mawes, where warm-toned stone cottages meet the sparkling waters of the Carrick Roads. Start the morning with breakfast from a local bakery before wandering through the village and exploring St Mawes Castle, one of Henry VIII's coastal fortresses built to defend Cornwall's shores.

From here, follow the coastline towards St Anthony Head, where the South West Coast Path winds through wild coastal landscapes and offers sweeping views across Falmouth Bay. When you find a sheltered stretch of coastline, take a refreshing dip at Summers Beach, a peaceful little cove that's perfect for a sea swim.

After working up an appetite, head to Tide & Thyme for lunch before spending the afternoon exploring more of the Roseland Peninsula. Take your time discovering quiet lanes, hidden coves and coastal viewpoints, allowing the slower pace of the peninsula to set in.

As evening approaches, make your way towards Porthcurnick Beach for one of Cornwall's most memorable outdoor dining experiences. If the timing is right, settle in for one of The Hidden Hut's fireside or beach feasts, where generous plates of seasonal food are enjoyed around the fire with the sand beneath your feet. It's Cornwall at its most convivial – simple food, good company and the sea just beyond.

Finish the day with a sunset along the coast. As the sky turns from blue to shades of amber and orange, find a quiet spot to watch the last light disappear over the water.

Day 2: The Sunset Chaser – St Agnes & Porthtowan

Head to the north coast for a day of Atlantic energy, golden light and coastal wellness. Start with coffee and breakfast at The Sorting Office Coffeehouse in St Agnes before making your way down to Trevaunance Cove.

Spend the morning in the waves. Whether you're an experienced surfer or looking to try something new, the Atlantic swell at Trevaunance makes for an exhilarating start to the day. After your surf, settle down for a relaxed lunch near the beach and take some time to watch the waves before continuing along the coast.

The afternoon is made for exploring. Follow the coastal paths around St Agnes and Porthtowan, where rugged cliffs, old mining landscapes and gorse-covered headlands create a spectacular backdrop. As the light begins to soften, the landscape takes on warmer tones – the perfect setting for the orange Cornwall palette.

Then it's time to turn up the heat. Head to Porthtowan for a coastal wellness experience with Soul Sweats, where hot and cold therapy, breathwork, yoga, sound healing and meditation take place on the cliffs overlooking the Atlantic. After a day in the ocean, there's something wonderfully restorative about moving between cold water and warmth while surrounded by the wild Cornish landscape.

As evening arrives, take to the water for a sunset paddle. Watch the cliffs and sea turn golden as you glide across the water, before finishing the day with sundowners on the beach. This is Cornwall in its most vibrant orange – energetic, elemental and completely alive.

Day 3: Orange Harvest – Looe & the South Coast

For your final day, leave the coast behind for the warmer, earthier shades of Cornwall's countryside. Begin with breakfast at Clements & Hope, in Polperro. This beautiful cafe is the perfect place for a leisurely start, with handmade food and locally sourced produce setting the tone for a day inspired by Cornwall's harvest.

From here, head inland towards Duloe and Cornish Orchards, where Cornwall's apple-growing heritage comes to life. Wander among the orchards and discover how the fruit is transformed into the golden cider that has become such a beloved part of Cornish food and drink culture.

Take the opportunity to sample the cider before exploring more of the surrounding countryside. In autumn, the landscape becomes a patchwork of burnt orange, russet and gold, with fallen leaves underfoot and orchards glowing in the changing light. Follow a countryside path and embrace the season at its most colourful.

As afternoon turns to evening, make your way back towards Looe. Pick up some local treats and find a spot overlooking the coast for a sunset picnic. Watch the fishing boats return to the harbour as the final light catches the water, turning the sea and sky into shades of orange and gold.

And as the temperature drops, there's only one place you'd rather be: back at your Cornish Gems retreat, warming up beside a crackling fire, sinking into a hot tub beneath the stars or simply curling up somewhere cosy after three days of chasing Cornwall's warmest colours.

The perfect orange Cornwall itinerary calls for somewhere warm to return to. Choose a Cornish Gem with a wood burner for cosy evenings, a private hot tub for stargazing or a sauna where you can warm up after a day in the Atlantic. From coastal homes overlooking the sunset to countryside retreats surrounded by autumn colour, your stay can become part of the experience.
