Trewidden House is a majestic 19th Century period manor house set in some of the most beautiful manicured gardens in Cornwall.  Complete with private tennis court, grand dining and drawing rooms with distant sea views to boot, choose to holiday on the coast in opulent style.  A period property of this calibre is a first for Cornish Gems' elite Cornish Cribs collection and we are very excited to be able to offer our guests the rare opportunity to stay in this historic home. Wedding enquiries are welcomed.

The Property

The ledge and brace front door adorned with fleur-de-lis studs proudly greets you and invites you through the porch embellished in wood panelling, into the great hall.  The prominent Grandfather clock chimes away as a sense of history encased in loving care surrounds your senses, enabling you to capture the very essence of life in this truly magnificent family home.  Whilst the house is adorned by exquisite early century antiques and paintings, it certainly remains a most comfortable and relaxing ambiance for families and friends alike to spend time.  The drawing room is an elegantly styled family room filled with beautiful classic furniture with open fire, Edwardian wall panelling and large windows boasting views which overlook the carefully tended garden with sea views of Mount's Bay and St. Michael's Mount in the distance.  For formal affairs, set the scene in the beautiful dining room.  The family kitchen becomes the hub of the home with central island unit and kitchen table, perfect for all to get involved in the preparations.  Climb the grand staircase to a tempting collection of eight generous bedrooms, each flawlessly styled to marry traditional charm with more modern order.

The property was excellently maintained and the housekeeper made us feel very welcome. This all made a big event very special. We will definitely be returning.

The grounds of Trewidden House are where the magic continues.  A diverse range of shrubberies disperse the majestic trees that stand tall, gracefully encircling the grounds in a protective manner.  A private and secure tennis court is hidden away just offset from the long driveway with plenty of grassy areas surrounding the court, making it an ideal little spot for a picnic.  Following the gravelled pathway under an archway of mature trees leads to the enormous main lawn. The focal point is a beautiful granite and brass sculpture which stands delicately at the front of the garden while a marvellous red brick wall defines the right hand side boundary, complete with Secret Garden style gate.  With its impressive and versatile size and layout, Trewidden House would be an ideal choice for families and friends alike looking to enjoy a short break or longer holiday together.

Guests staying at Trewidden House receive FREE entry to Trewidden Gardens, highly acclaimed as one of "The Great Gardens of Cornwall".  Originally planted by the current owners' ancestor, Thomas Bolitho in the 19th Century, the 15 acre garden incorporates a magnificent collection of over 300 Camellias and Magnolias alongside one of the largest tree fern dells in Europe.  Other attractions include organised tours of the gardens and a tea room.  A must visit during your stay!
