Supporting our heroes through the #Gems142

As a proud B-Corp business, we are passionate about supporting the wellbeing of our people and Cornish communities.

That’s why, from 1st to 7th April, our company’s owners and dedicated founders – Nadia and Tom Macer-Wright – will be taking on the Gems142, hiking 142 miles of the South West Coast Path, to raise £3500 for the installation of a solar powered sound bench at our local hospital, Treliske.

Talking about the cause, Nadia said: “At Cornish Gems, we strive to keep the well-being of our people and communities at our hearts, which is why it seemed only natural to raise money to support staff and patient well-being, at our local hospital, Treliske.

“In today’s fast paced world - and even more so when times are tough - it’s incredibly important to find a safe space in which to breathe, take stock, and reset. We want to help patients and staff to take a moment to reduce their anxiety levels, build their resilience, and ultimately use mindfulness tools to help their healing process.”

Located in the wellbeing garden, the pioneering sound art installation from Justin Wiggan at EchoPoint will provide patients and staff with a sonic safe space, where a carefully curated and structured soundscape is played to help listeners redirect negative emotions when they are in crisis, and enter a state of calm.
