Built in 1812, Salubrious House has long been a majestic icon within St Ives, an historic landmark from the sea and Smeaton's Pier. Stories of salty sea captains and pilchard fishing bring a sense of tradition to the house whilst tales of late night parties for the St Ives art aristocracy evoke the regency charm. The owners heart and interior passion ooze from every room, a six year project has brought this once forgotten house back to life. Arrive into the first floor hub of the house, the open plan living, dining and kitchen space. Every consideration has been taken to maximise its best features from the glorious light that bounces around the space to the jackpot views capturing the oh so blue seas and coastscapes of St Ives Bay. The galley style kitchen has been handmade bringing an almost industrial twist with the scaffold poles and chunky wooden work tops. The open plan layout ensures holiday conversation flows as dinner is created and aperitifs mixed. The dining table and bench style seating have been reclaimed from a warehouse in Sussex and re-homed under the bay window of Salubrious House, perfectly placed for beside-the-sea dining. The large living space brings friends and family together, with their finger on the pulse of British design, the owners combine a cool colour palette of ink blues and aged brown leathers, hand printed cushions set the coastal scene and complement the gallery of artwork throughout the house, each a treasured memory of the owner's travels. To the rear of the 1st floor is a practical utility room and additional storage area for shopping, a small cloakroom with WC can also be found. The staircase leads down from the living space into a central hallway with beautiful tiled floor. 3 bedrooms lead off the hallway, each offering an inspired fusion of luxury beds and soft furnishings with mid-century and more contemporary furniture. The family bathroom is truly indulgent with stylish emerald green Moroccan floor tiles and opulent claw foot bath, a contrasting vintage sign continues the salvaged finds of the house, a once in a lifetime treasure from a Parisian flea market. A cosy hideaway snug area is set within the ground floor hallway with stylish original 60's day bed and TV with DVD, a great chill out space for children to play and escape the adult chit chat. The Captain's Hideaway bedroom is located on the 2nd floor nestled in the rafters offering the most stunning 360 degree views across The Porthmeor, The Isalnd and St Ives Bay. This hideaway has been carefully designed to be an exciting secret bedroom/games room that children will adore.
